About The Position

Machinify is seeking a Senior or Staff Frontend Engineer to join its web application engineering team. The role focuses on building user-centric, high-performance UI platforms and contributing to frontend development as a primary contributor. The engineer will lead feature work, shape architectural patterns in collaboration with backend-services engineers, and work with AI coding agents by directing and reviewing their output while maintaining high quality standards. The successful candidate will turn complex requirements into scalable, responsive interfaces and help drive adoption of new languages, tools, and agentic development practices across the team. The position involves cross-functional product work, direct customer collaboration, and ownership of systems used in high-stakes healthcare settings. The engineer will contribute to technical direction and product outcomes while balancing new customer-facing features with sustainable maintenance and technical debt reduction.

Requirements

10+ years of production-ready application development experience with high-traffic users.
Proven experience developing thoughtful UI system design and architecture with extensibility in mind.
Proficiency in modern JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, and HTML.
Ability to understand complex enterprise-grade code, contribute quickly, and suggest improvements.
Ability to write Technical Design Documents that communicate concrete frontend architecture to technical peers and product leads, including when product intent is ambiguous.
Product- and user-driven mindset, connecting technical decisions to user needs and outcomes.
Excellent debugging skills using developer tools and source code, with an emphasis on root-cause analysis and preventing future bugs.
Proficiency integrating web APIs or microservices into the UI in partnership with backend developers.
Experience implementing best practices for incorporating AI into user flows.
Hands-on experience with agentic engineering tools and workflows in a real production setting.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with engineering peers, senior product managers, ML/DS partners, and leadership.
Familiarity with standard development tools and processes such as GitHub Workflows, Git, and JIRA.
Comfort with complexity and curiosity to define a path forward.
BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Excitement to make an impact in rewiring US healthcare.

Responsibilities

Deepen understanding of the healthcare claims and payments domain.
Ship production-grade user interfaces, help set frontend standards, mentor others, and elevate the team's frontend maturity.
Represent frontend perspectives in cross-team planning and support cross-functional execution.
Develop new applications and contribute to UI and potentially middle-layer development.
Own projects aligned with product development strategy.
Design and implement solutions that provide a delightful and intuitive user experience.
Balance customer-facing features with technical debt cleanup to keep the software suite sustainable.
Bring agentic engineering practices into the team's day-to-day work and help the team adopt them effectively.
Collaborate with Product Managers, Backend Engineers, the UX team, customers, and other external stakeholders.
Contribute to product direction and build systems that positively impact customers and future product lines.
