About The Position

This position involves performing specialized clerical and technical tasks related to student attendance records, managing the student information system, and ensuring the efficient and organized operation of the school office in a professional and confidential manner. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Formal education or training in modern business office practices.
  • Secretarial or related office experience, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to perform basic secretarial skills (typing, filing, data entry, use of basic office equipment).
  • Keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to use correct grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to use a variety of office machines.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Publisher (or similar graphics program), and the Internet.
  • Organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to perform tasks and projects with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure with constant interruptions and meet deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge of business English and spelling.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and process workflow.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters professionally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Demonstrated abilities in self-direction and sound judgment.

  • Knowledge of and experience with the student record database system.

  • Ability to speak or otherwise communicate effectively in the English Language.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret documents, schedules, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic and business mathematics.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to sit.

Responsibilities

  • Receptionist and registrar for the school office.
  • Respond to inquiries from staff, other educational institutions, the public, parents, and students to provide information and direction.
  • Prepare a variety of documents, reports, and correspondence.
  • Complete all secretarial/clerical functions of the school efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Keep building administration informed of student concerns.
  • Remain flexible and team-oriented.
  • Promote and practice professional growth and development, including training on the student database.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the school.
