About The Position

Southeast Orthopedic Specialists is seeking Front Office Representatives for their Riverside Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. This is a full-time position focused on maintaining a high level of customer service and ensuring the efficient, productive, and professional operation of the front office. Responsibilities include patient reception, scheduling, collecting patient demographics, insurance information, and payments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge preferred.
  • Skill in customer service and an understanding of Southeast Orthopedic Specialist code of conduct and culture.
  • Skill in communicating effectively with physicians, clinical staff, and the public.
  • Skill in establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate with upset and frustrated patients while consistently providing excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrate empathy, concern, good listening skills, and compassion for all patients.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and acknowledges patients promptly.
  • Instructs patients in completing forms and makes necessary corrections to their accounts.
  • Obtains accurate demographic and insurance information, as well as financial contracts/consents, ensuring all necessary documents are populated and signed correctly.
  • Identifies and collects co-payments, co-insurances, and past-due account balances.
  • Explains financial requirements to patients regarding billing and insurance matters.
  • Completes and interprets insurance verification and benefits, notifying patients, family members, physicians, or supervisors of network insurance coverage issues that may result in coverage reduction.
  • Scans all new patient or updated patient information into the computer, including photo ID, insurance cards, referrals, and patient paperwork.
  • Schedules follow-up appointments, reviews patient insurance coverage, and notifies patients if a service requires authorization or referral.
  • Maintains general knowledge of accepted insurance plans.
  • Maintains a secure and accurate cash drawer, including daily balancing and closing batches.
  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality.
  • Keeps the front office workspace clean and organized.
  • Demonstrates current competencies for the job position, including a general understanding of insurance requirements.
