About The Position

Family Practice Associates (FPA) was founded in 1983 and has grown into one of the largest family practice groups in Central Kentucky. FPA is dedicated to providing family-centered care from birth to old age, with over 20 primary care providers and a professionally trained support staff. Recognized as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH), FPA offers enhanced access to medical care at its Hamburg and Brannon Crossing locations, as well as online.

Requirements

  • Willingness to travel between Hamburg and Brannon Crossing locations.
  • Graduate of a medical office related training program or a minimum of high school graduate, preferably with medical office experience.
  • Ability to sit and stand frequently, stretch over counters, and lift loads of less than 10 pounds.
  • Fine motor skills for operating computers for extended periods.
  • Problem-solving skills to assist patients with all aspects of care origination/encounter.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to function as a team player.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients courteously and professionally.
  • Update and verify patient information.
  • Register new patients.
  • Scan patient identification, insurance cards, and other paperwork.
  • Index scanned documents to patient charts.
  • Monitor Phreesia dashboard.
  • Print encounter forms as needed.
  • Perform insurance eligibility/benefits checks and explain to patients.
  • Collect copays, deductibles, and previous balances.
  • Reconcile payments posted in Phreesia at the end of the business day.
  • Schedule appointments in Allscripts PM.
  • Verify and ensure accuracy of prescription output in Allscripts EHR, and print/call-in prescriptions.
  • Obtain provider signature for controlled prescriptions.
  • Provide patients with printed materials such as prescriptions, patient education, release of information forms, school/work excuses, and clinical summaries.
  • Assist patients with questions, concerns, and appointments.
  • Relinquish materials (medical records, drug samples, prescriptions) to patients as directed.
  • Schedule and track drug representative appointments, assist with scheduling and notifying staff of breakfast/luncheons.
  • Maintain adequate stock of patient forms in the front office.
  • Ensure front office and lobby are clean and professional at all times, including nightly cleaning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet service standards for check-in and check-out.
