About The Position

CAPS & Maple City is an organization that supports healthy, safe, and thriving children and families by providing quality, comprehensive services to all. The Front Office (FO) Team Member is a member of the Patient Resources Team that includes health care navigators, billing, and social services. The FO member supports the mission and values of CAPS & Maple City by providing patient care by improving patients’ access to quality healthcare. In addition, this FO staff member will be responsible for driving the mobile health unit (MHU) to and from community events, and any set up and tear down needed, by following the MHU protocol.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Proficient in Word and Excel; experience using an EMR or other integrated software system preferred
  • Ability to write routine reports and documentation
  • Ability to speak effectively to the public in person or on the telephone
  • Bilingual: Spanish/English
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent required
  • Six months previous customer service experience, preferably in a health care setting
  • Experience in cross-cultural settings
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to perform prolonged periods of time in front of a computer
  • Ability to perform prolonged or extensive standing and walking
  • Ability to perform considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
  • Ability to drive a 30 ft MHU following all protocols
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Have an acceptable driving record

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates excellent customer service while greeting patients in a fast-paced setting.
  • Identifies and addresses patients' questions and concerns, resolving issues when possible, and routing requests and messages to appropriate staff.
  • Maintains accurate data in the electronic health record and maintains patient privacy and security as outlined by HIPAA.
  • Schedules patient visits, verifies insurance eligibility, and collects patient demographics; maintains proficiency in insurance basics.
  • Participates in community patient enrollment events
  • Helps with maintaining the mobile unit at events
  • Understands and can fully operate the mobile unit
  • Utilizes multiple resources for staff communication
  • Completes patient intake
  • Completes certain telephone encounters
  • Communicates with patients
  • Other duties that support our shared work, as assigned
