About The Position

This role is responsible for fulfilling patient care and clerical responsibilities as assigned. This includes managing patient flow, assisting with examinations, collecting patient information, administering basic medical tasks, and handling administrative duties such as scheduling, record management, and communication with staff and patients. The position also requires ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and maintaining patient records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a college course in medical assisting.
  • Knowledge of health care field and EMR systems.
  • Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
  • Skill in written and verbal communications.
  • Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a family practice, internal medicine, or urgent care is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience is preferred.
  • eClinicalWorks (ECW) experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill patient care responsibilities including checking schedules, organizing patient flow, assisting with exams, collecting patient history and vital signs, administering injections, performing EKGs and PFTs, and charting.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
  • Perform patient check-in and check-out procedures, including registration and insurance verification.
  • Fulfill clerical responsibilities such as managing patient records, obtaining necessary reports and referral information, completing forms, and scheduling appointments.
  • Fulfill organizational responsibilities including respecting patient rights, responding to emergency codes, and reporting staff/patient issues to supervisors.
  • Answer multi-line phone system, direct calls, and take messages.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain patient charts and electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Communicate effectively with clinical and administrative staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
