About The Position

St. Anthony’s Medical Clinic provides primary and specialty care to individuals and families in the Tenderloin neighborhood. Our range of primary, preventative, and ancillary care supports all patients in building healthy lifestyles for themselves and their families. In this role, you are responsible for the reception area and patient check-in. In addition, you will support medical records and chart management, medical interpretation, and patient eligibility screening. Requirements

• Two years demonstrated work experience - preferably in a medical/clinical setting.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to pass a (DOJ) Department of Federal Justice background check.
• Excellent interpersonal, listening, oral, and written communication skills are required.
• Ability to be polite, diplomatic, and firm.
• Can set limits and practice professional boundaries with guests, volunteers, donors, and coworkers.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and high-pressure situations in a self-composed and self-assured manner.
• Ability to complete paperwork neatly and legibly.
• Proficient with various computer programs, such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, email, etc.
• Ability or willingness to learn to use information and communication technologies (computers, smartphones, and iPads) to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information.
• Ability to be punctual, reliable, cooperative, and stay team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Greet, and assist patients courteously, utilizing G.U.E.S.T. standards to determine their needs and direct them appropriately.
• Assist patient with pre-enrollment application and determine eligibility of Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) program. (DHCS 4070)
• Process via the Medi-Cal provider portal form DHCS 4070 -Department of Health Care Services Children’s Medical to determine final eligibility and participation in the temporary Medi-Cal program.
• Assist patient in the eligibility and completion of Medi-Cal choice form and submit to (DHCS) California Department of Health Services.
• Register new patients, ensure complete information on registration form, and enter information in Practice Management system.
• Assist patients with completion of registration forms as needed.
• Ensure complete patient information on narrative record and update intake sheet.
• Assist patients with completion of intake forms as needed.
• Enter patient demographic and visit information into database/computer system, Practice Management System, and/or Electronic Medical Record as appropriate.
• Schedule new and follow-up appointments in Practice Management system.
• Screen telephone calls; make appointments via telephone; take messages for staff and providers; properly transfer telephone calls; make patient reminder calls; check answering machine and fax daily.
• Inform patients of Notice of Privacy Practices, obtain patients signed acknowledgement and consent.
• Collect patient financial and demographic information.
• Using Federal Poverty Guidelines and One-E-App, or other program, to identify, certify, and enroll patients for appropriate healthcare entitlement programs.
• Assist patient in interpreting any bills received and refer patient to appropriate resource for help reconciling billing issues.
• Assist in development of signs and materials for non-English speaking patients.
• Act as clinic resource for patient questions.
• Working as part of the clinic team knowing your presence is an essential function for the team to be successful.
• Provide interpretation and facilitate accurate communication for between non-English speaking patients and providers, nurses and other staff as needed.
• Treat all guests with empathy, dignity, and respect.

• Complete reports and all other paperwork neatly, legibly, and thoroughly.

• Support the front office staff with data/report entry.
• Understand and follow the organization's programs, policies, and procedures
• Participate in regular training and development opportunities to increase personal capacity to apply innovative approaches to daily workflows, service delivery, and guest engagement.
• Work closely with nursing staff to determine provider/nursing availability and to flag via our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) any urgent medical needs.
• Maintain forms and office supplies required for front desk activities.
• Securing the clinic at the close of each working day, turn off computers, clear all working areas and secure patient information.
• Assure the readiness of the reception area for each working day.
• Have all front desk activities fully operational at start of business hours.
• At end of work day ensure that the waiting areas are neat and organized.
• Support the front office staff with data/report entry.
• Assist with the indexing and scanning of documentation into our (EMR) Electronic Medical record system.
• Assist with the processing of Healthy San Francisco, CHDP PM 160 patients billing.
• Follow Front Office procedures in emergency situations (911, CSS, etc.).
• Photocopy archived patient charts as needed for review by Clinic Director or Lead Physician as assigned.
• Daily delivery of QFT’s/specimens at the Department of Public Health as assigned.
• Attend all training as necessary for various eligibility programs, including Healthy San Francisco, Healthy Families, Healthy Kids and Youth, Cover California and Medi-Cal.
• Pass all necessary tests and qualify for certification as a (CAA) Certified Applicant Assistor and Cover California (CEC) Certified Enrollment Counselor.
• Adhere to Healthy San Francisco Certified Application Assistor (CAA) agreement and Cover California Certified Enrollment Counselor (CEC) code of ethics and regulations.
• Participate in relevant meetings supporting team communication and the program's capacity to fulfill organizational goals and mission.
• Collaboratively works with others to achieve team success.
• Manage stress and pressure situations calmly and responsively.
• Maintain the capacity to control reactions and awareness of how their behavior or response can impact others.
• Follow Front Office procedures in emergency situations (911, CSS, etc.).
