About The Position

This placement opportunity is within the Rooms Division and offers a structured training program across several key front office positions. The program begins with a one-month orientation to the company, local community, and essential administrative procedures. This is followed by five months of training as a Front Desk Agent, where you will learn to manage guest check-ins and check-outs, handle phone calls, manage room assignments, and adhere to hotel policies. Subsequently, you will spend three months in a Guest Services/Concierge role, focusing on assisting guests with reservations, providing information, and coordinating services. The program culminates in a three-month Front Desk Supervisor role, where you will gain experience in overseeing front desk operations, training staff, resolving guest issues, managing occupancy and revenue, and learning managerial duties such as yield management and scheduling.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a post-secondary ministerially recognized academic institution in the hospitality industry OR have a hospitality degree and at least 1 year of recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside of the USA) OR have 5 years recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside the USA)

Responsibilities

  • Receive orientation to the company, local community, customers, culture, and business strategies.
  • Learn about payroll schedules and tax withholding.
  • Gain knowledge of local training areas, housing options, and transportation.
  • Meet key contacts and other employees.
  • Receive computer training on company systems.
  • Learn front desk computer systems.
  • Check in and out hotel guests professionally and friendly.
  • Answer all phone calls promptly and knowledgeably.
  • Conduct pre-assignment of hotel rooms, including VIPS, repeat guests, packages, and special requests.
  • Complete end-of-shift checklists.
  • Review arrivals, note special requests, and block rooms as needed.
  • Follow established key control policy.
  • Manage proper credit policies.
  • Submit lost & found articles with a completed report.
  • Learn responsibilities of concierge and guest services staff.
  • Answer guest questions and make reservations for various services.
  • Keep accurate records of arrangements made.
  • Assist with answering questions and/or giving directions to hotel facilities.
  • Coordinate activity reports to track reservation bookings.
  • Introduce guests to the property and guest rooms and assist with luggage delivery coordination.
  • Maintain current information on hotel facilities, services, local restaurants, and attractions.
  • Maintain a current resume book related to conventions, meetings, and special events.
  • Oversee front desk agents.
  • Handle walk-over procedures.
  • Maintain hourly house counts and sell-out controls.
  • Manage room key controls.
  • Train staff on upselling techniques.
  • Resolve guest concerns.
  • Assign tasks to front desk agents.
  • Provide training and support to front desk agents.
  • Maintain all front desk related equipment and a par stock of supplies.
  • Implement strategies to maximize occupancy and revenue.
  • Review Housekeeping reports and follow up.
  • Learn front desk manager duties and responsibilities, including yield management, forecasts, scheduling, staffing processes, and daily management meetings.
