About The Position

This position is responsible for greeting and checking in patients for scheduled office visits. It involves obtaining and verifying the necessary documentation, both paper and electronic, for the visit from the patient. The role also includes checking out patients at the conclusion of the visit, collecting patient payments, scheduling follow-up visits, posting charges, and performing other assigned duties. This role is located at the Chandler office.

Requirements

  • Experience with practice management scheduling and charge posting software.
  • Ability to use a 10-key calculator to calculate patient responsibility balances.
  • Basic knowledge of Word and Excel spreadsheets.
  • A general understanding of group health coverage and patient responsibility calculations.
  • Must be a self-starter with a positive, service-oriented attitude.
  • High school Diploma or GED
  • At least two years of directly related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and checking patients in for appointments, assuring a positive, friendly and timely experience.
  • Greeting patients and non-patients and assisting them with questions or concerns.
  • Notifying management and providers of non-patient visitors.
  • Assuring patient insurance and demographic information is accurate and current.
  • Requesting patients/patient’s representative to complete any required paperwork per practice policies and procedures.
  • Reviewing patient charts prior to scheduled visits, reviewing for required information, and preparing necessary paperwork.
  • Asking for copies of insurance card and photo ID at every visit and copying per practice policy and procedure.
  • Assisting patients with completion of required documentation as needed.
  • Ensuring the waiting room area is clean and well maintained.
  • Providing coverage for all front office functions.
  • Checking patients out in a timely, professional, and friendly manner.
  • Collecting co-payments and deductibles.
  • Recording payments and providing patients with a receipt.
  • Scheduling follow-up visits.
  • Inputting and balancing daily charges per practice policy and procedures.
  • Providing backup for scheduling.
  • Scanning documents.
  • Potentially traveling to other locations if coverage is needed.
  • Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
