About The Position

This position is responsible for establishing work priorities, scheduling, and assigning tasks to ensure efficient and timely customer service within the Nutritive Service Department. The role involves supervising cashiers, managing cash handling procedures, interviewing and hiring new employees, and ensuring the operational readiness of the Point of Sale (POS) system. The supervisor will also handle customer service, manage inventory, maintain cleanliness, and perform various administrative and reporting duties. Flexibility in shifts and locations, as well as attendance at evening and weekend meetings, is required. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of direct work experience, including one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Associates Degree in Food Service Management or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Navajo Nation food handlers permit.
  • VALID, UNRESTRICTED INSURABLE DRIVER’S LICENSE
  • Resume and references are required.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes work priorities and schedules and assigns work to accomplish desired goals and objectives to ensure efficient and timely customer service.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow.
  • Provides training to new employees on policies, procedures, cash-handling, register routines, customer service, and sales standards.
  • Supervises cashiers in all aspects of accounting and fiscal responsibilities.
  • Interviews, selects and hires new employees.
  • Oversees cashiers in processing sales quickly and efficiently and ensures all cash handling is done properly.
  • Issues written and oral instructions to cashiers for procedures used to receive payments, sales and any other assigned cash flow operations.
  • Ensures cashiers contribute to a team effort specifically the customer service operations within the Nutritive Service Department.
  • Allocates Point of Sale (POS) operating system is operational.
  • Evaluates work performance of employees.
  • Operates POS electric register and the meal tracker system.
  • Greets customers and enters food items by pressing appropriate description button for each menu item.
  • Informs customers of total amount due.
  • Receives credit card payments, value port cards, ID Badge, Apple Pay, and Google Pay from customers for transaction.
  • Provides basic and routine information to customers concerning dining facility procedures and policies.
  • Opens and closes out cash register and meal tracker system.
  • Prints register receipts and daily summary report reflecting subtotals and totals.
  • Compares total credit card transaction total on receipts.
  • Completes accountability documentation, turn cash in as well as report to collection clerks.
  • Checks, verifies and accepts meal cards and free meal tickets for all those who qualify for a free meal.
  • Compares items and prices on menu with those on the cash register, updating with available menu items and prices.
  • Prepares cash drawer for arriving employee to operate out of.
  • Assumes responsibility for recording properly refunded returns, maintain an accurate count of the Cafeteria’s monetary resources throughout the day, counting employees’ cash drawer and cash available behind the counter or in the office and making sure all cash is accounted for.
  • Processes month-end balancing entries.
  • Keeps general ledger analysis of accounts.
  • Maintains a record of food beverage sales.
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly standard reports.
  • Assists with cashless transactions and cashless daily reports.
  • Totals and summarizes funds received and prepares bank deposit slips.
  • Assumes responsibility for handling and satisfying customer complaints and requests.
  • Replenishes condiments, packaged food items, eating utensils, cups, napkins and beverage items in the cafeteria.
  • Checks inventory, prepares food order and stock storeroom for condiments, packaged food items, eating utensils, cups, napkins and beverage items according to established par levels.
  • Applies principles of proper storage of food and supplies using FIFO (first-in, first-out), including labeling and dating all products received and stored.
  • Maintains order and cleanliness of cafeteria and dining room.
  • Assists with opening and closing of cafeteria and dining room.
  • Requires flexibility to work varying shifts and location assignments.
  • Attends meetings in the evenings and on weekends as needed or requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
