About The Position

The Front-of-House Floor Assistant & Host at NEP Cafe, part of Kei Concepts, is a part-time position responsible for creating a welcoming and efficient dining experience for guests. This role involves greeting guests, managing seating, answering calls, and supporting the service team. The ideal candidate will have serving experience, excellent guest service skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of serving experience required
  • Paid Food Handler Card training provided
  • Responsible Beverage Service certification, if required
  • Ability to provide friendly, professional, and attentive guest service
  • Basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly with guests and team members
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Flexible and adaptable schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and sanitation standards
  • Basic math skills and ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system
  • Knowledge of basic sanitation requirements and food handling safety standards

Responsibilities

  • Greet incoming and departing guests warmly with a genuine smile and eye contact.
  • Escort guests to their assigned dining area and present menus.
  • Use visual cues to seat guests based on availability and guest preference.
  • Inform guests of current promotions and ensure a smooth handoff to the service team.
  • Answer incoming calls and provide appropriate guest service.
  • Manage the flow of guests into the dining area and provide accurate wait times when needed.
  • Prioritize guests with reservations.
  • Remain observant of guest needs throughout the dining experience.
  • Support dining room staff by setting and clearing tables, replenishing water, and serving beverages.
  • Protect the establishment and guests by following sanitation, safety, and alcohol control policies.
  • Obtain service area assignment at the beginning of each shift.
  • Promptly greet guests once they are seated and provide water.
  • Remove used tableware between courses and provide new tableware as needed.
  • Clear tables after guests leave and bring tableware to the dish area.
  • Clean and reset tabletops, chairs, booths, and surrounding floor areas between seating.
  • Respond appropriately to guest requests.
  • Assist with prompt food delivery.
  • Thank guests as they are leaving.
  • Fill in as needed to ensure smooth and efficient restaurant operations.
  • Follow direction from the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
  • Attend scheduled employee meetings and provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Assist with additional tasks as needed, including light food preparation when necessary.
