About The Position

Under the direction of the Pool Manager, the Front Gate Attendant is responsible for offering an enthusiastic greeting to members and guests as they come into the YMCA and providing friendly, efficient service.

Requirements

  • Must have current Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, members, and participants is essential.
  • Demonstrated skills in customer service, organizational skills, communications, computer knowledge, sales, interpersonal skills, multi-tasking, and conflict resolution.
  • Must have knowledge of emergency procedures and policies to promote safe, effective responses to emergency situations.
  • Must promote the YMCA mission and apply core values, including customer service, meeting quality standards for service, and a maintaining safe environment for the enjoyment of all.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks, work heavily with families and children.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and assists all members, potential members and staff in a courteous, professional and friendly manner.
  • Distributes wrist bands to youth swimmers.
  • Responds to members’ needs.
  • Contact appropriate personnel when necessary.
  • Handle complaints in a courteous manner.
  • Effectively negotiate and resolve customer service problems.
  • Use appropriate forms to communicate concerns or praise.
  • Ensures proper procedures and policies are being followed by all members and guests.
  • Incorporates YMCA values of “Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith” into all aspects of the position, to ensure YMCA values are being integrated into our culture and programs.
  • Models our YMCA values through fun, positive relationships with staff and members.
  • Seek every opportunity to encourage, motivate and thank fellow staff members for their work.
  • Communicates effectively, demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and work cooperatively as a team member.

  • Attends all required trainings, in-service meetings, and branch meetings as required.
  • Covers all schedules shifts and/or finds substitute coverage for 100% of scheduled shifts.
