About The Position

Apple's Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) organization is seeking a passionate Web Accessibility Engineer to join their Online Store Frontend Team. This role is crucial for ensuring the accessibility of Apple's e-commerce platform, which is known for its complexity, unique design requirements, focus on privacy and security, and sheer scale. The engineer will act as a technical accessibility expert, auditing solutions, collaborating with teams throughout the project lifecycle, and liaising with various functions. The ideal candidate is motivated, passionate, pragmatic, and fosters positive relationships while promoting the best results. Previous industry experience with an emphasis on accessibility is considered an advantage.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong working knowledge of WCAG 2.x guidelines and WAI-ARIA.
• Knowledge and practical experience of implementing technical accessibility requirements.
• In-depth knowledge and practical experience of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to provide accessible code solutions using web technologies.
• Ability to provide accessibility requirements for reusable components within a design system.
• Experience in software engineering.
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of macOS and iOS VoiceOver and other accessibility features.
• Strong first-hand experience testing with assistive technologies (including screen readers such as VoiceOver, JAWS, and NVDA).
• Experience reviewing designs and copy for accessibility.
• Familiarity with accessibility features on mobile devices.
• Experience using AI to strategically enhance accessibility implementations, validations, and features.

Responsibilities
