About The Position

Instrumental builds AI-powered technology used by electronics manufacturers to accelerate product development and improve production yields. As a Front End Product Engineer, you will build and improve features across the Application stack, with opportunities to take ownership of features from understanding user needs through design, implementation, release, and validation. The role emphasizes customer-focused problem solving, sound judgment, follow-through, and collaboration with Product, Customer Success, engineers, technical leads, and external stakeholders. You will receive feedback and support while contributing to important customer-facing work in a growing, fast-paced team.

Requirements

At least 2 years of software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping and owning application feature delivery in collaboration with a Product team.
Comfort building Web Application features using TypeScript, HTML, SCSS, and React.
Ability to work effectively in an established codebase.
Ownership of feature outcomes, follow-through on commitments, and clear communication of progress and risks, including escalating when necessary.
Genuine interest in understanding customer problems, use cases, solution approaches, and stakeholder feedback, and acting on that feedback.
Thoughtful use of AI tools as part of the workflow and responsibility for the output they generate.
Clear communication and effective cross-team collaboration.
Interest in learning and growing in a high-bar, fast-paced environment, with a team-oriented approach to solving problems.

Responsibilities

Own the full software development lifecycle for application features, from understanding user needs through design, implementation, testing, release, and validation.
Partner with Product, Customer Success, and external stakeholders to understand workflows, gather feedback, and shape features that solve real problems.
Build and improve Application user experiences using TypeScript, React, React Router, HTML, and SCSS.
Work with engineers and technical leads to get feedback on design and implementation, and contribute across the Application stack as priorities require.
Take responsibility for feature quality in production by validating work, investigating issues, and improving performance and reliability.
Use AI tools to assist with exploration, implementation, and debugging to improve engineering productivity and iteration speed.
Comply with company engineering, security, access control, and privacy policies, and promptly report suspected security incidents or policy violations.
