About The Position

The Front End Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all front-end operations within the store. This includes ensuring excellent customer service, managing cash flow and controls, supervising front-end staff, and maintaining the overall appearance and functionality of the front-end area. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to handle customer relations, employee supervision, and operational efficiency.

  • Ability to analyze and gather facts for recommending disciplinary action.

Responsibilities

  • Champion company and division customer service programs to meet or exceed customer satisfaction goals.
  • Handle customer relations positively, including effective resolution of complaints.
  • Promote Albertsons/Safeway’s philosophy of personalized service.
  • Provide fast, friendly, courteous, and legendary customer service.
  • Improve customer relations and perform checking duties and supervisory functions on cash registers.
  • Serve as a backup checker when necessary.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
  • Direct and supervise front-end activities, including monitoring customer traffic and service level, coordinating and implementing front-end service programs, maintaining cleanliness standards, and ensuring the safety and appearance of the front-end.
  • Monitor and order front-end supplies (bags, Rain Checks, Item Correction Forms, etc.).
  • Ensure the front-end is fully operational and projects a positive image.
  • Handle and be accountable for cash flow and controls, including safe transactions, money issues and pickups, tills, approving checks, rain checks, refunds, and monitoring checker money handling policies and procedures.
  • Handle scan system emergency procedures, UPC codes not on file, scan pricing errors, and other retail integrity issues.
  • Assist with interviewing and hiring of checkers, courtesy clerks, customer service counter clerks, and office/bookkeepers.
  • Assist with training front-end employees and monitor front-end compliance.
  • Supervise assigned employees and make recommendations for employment status changes and discipline to the Store Director.
  • Maintain constant awareness of customer and employee safety.
  • Enforce dress and grooming standards for all employees.
  • Assist with controlling shrink.
  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.
  • Perform other necessary and required duties as directed.
