About The Position

Front-End Drivers operate front-end trucks on multi-family residential and commercial routes, removing and transporting waste or recyclables in fulfillment of customer contracts. Drivers service multiple customers each day according to assigned routes and transport collected materials to the appropriate station, landfill, transfer station, or other drop-off location. This is a local route position in the Charlottesville area, with predictable full-time hours and drivers returning home every night. Pay starts at $28.00+ per hour and is negotiable based on commercial driving and waste-industry experience.

Requirements

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class A or Class B.
• At least 1 year of commercial truck driving experience or equivalent CDL school certification.
• Clean driving record and ability to meet safety-sensitive position criteria.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs and physically maneuver containers and corral doors as needed.
• Proficiency operating manual and automatic commercial equipment.
• Ability to navigate local routes using GPS or maps.
• Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Nice To Haves

• Prior waste-industry experience, including front-end, rear-end, or roll-off operating experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial front-load, roll-off, or ancillary waste equipment on assigned commercial and multi-family residential routes.
• Safely maneuver trucks into tight-clearance spaces, alleyways, and customer sites using mirrors and backup procedures.
• Mechanically collect solid waste or recyclables and transport materials safely to post-collection facilities, landfills, or transfer stations.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete Vehicle Condition Reports (VCR).
• Communicate clearly with dispatch and provide courteous service to local business customers along the route.
• Follow federal, state, and company safety rules, including Lockout/Tagout procedures and proper PPE protocols.
