About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Information Technology Director, the Front End Developer is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of PHJC Ministry websites, along with internally developed web application front ends. This position serves as the primary liaison for web project design and development for websites and web applications. The Front End Developer is responsible for managing website information related to specific areas of focus as defined by the ministries and will use their expertise and knowledge of the tools available for Internet and internal facing websites and will work with the ministries in incorporating the information into the website. This will be managed through development and implementation. The Front End Developer will coordinate and oversee the registration and management of Domain Names used with web-related services and is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of SSL certificates. The Front End Developer is responsible for assisting the Network Administrator with developing and maintaining the web servers and any servers related to services of web-based, Internet, and Intranet systems. Oversees the technical management of websites. Including integration of approved content and updates on the site, file management and site maintenance, database management, coordination of retrieval of pertinent information from the site to end-user, and archiving and record management. Demonstrates commitment to the mission, vision and values of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ (PHJC), including established policies and procedures, organizational objectives, continuous quality improvement, quality assessment, and security standards. Shares dignity and respect to all co-workers, vendors, and individuals. Conducts meetings with Ministry co-workers to: 1) determine the appropriateness and correctness of new web applications and modifications of existing applications, 2) determine current and future web development needs, and 3) coordinate final product with key staff as appropriate, to ensure customer satisfaction prior to publishing on the web. Works with teams throughout the organization to develop and maintain workflows that are impacted by web and online technologies. Leverages available technology such as email and video conferencing to ensure adequate and accurate initial communication and follow-ups with various ministries. Develops and executes web project plans, identifying and obtaining the resources required to complete projects, develops and manages project schedules and timelines, and remains within budget. Projects include development and implementation of portals, Internet websites, Intranet projects, Intranet sites, web applications, user training, etc. Remains current on web technology and maintains project-tracking systems as required. Prepares activity reports and other reports as requested. Obtains approvals from management prior to incurring costs beyond the budget. Analyzes traffic to websites and recommends any necessary programming changes. Primarily responsible for monitoring online transactions and coordinating with OCPI and IT Director as needed to resolve suspected and fraudulent transactions. Responsible for meeting established guidelines for response time, product quality, and end-user satisfaction level. Implements, plans, contributes to the overall attainment of established key performance measures and goals. Maintains, to the extent possible, a safe environment in performing the tasks associated with the position description and identifies opportunities to improve safety. Responds in an appropriate and safe manner to any potential unsafe environment.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience in website design, development, and web project management of multiple Intranet and Internet sites.
  • Internet/web project management experience involving complex projects.
  • Proactive and creative in working with Ministries and outside entities.
  • Strong skills with content management systems (CMS), specifically Joomla! and WordPress.
  • Solid understanding of and experience with PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, ASP.net, or equivalent web framework.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Keen understanding of dynamic websites, web navigation, and ability to manage web server software.
  • Skilled in working with images and other multimedia data types, including audio and visual.
  • Solid understanding of encryption security protocols and management of SSL certificates.
  • Familiarity with domain and search engine registration.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Advanced knowledge of web design and web application systems and technical requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and document project requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and handle simultaneous projects.
  • Ability to relate to multiple levels of user management.
  • Analytical skills necessary to develop operational policies and procedures relative to information systems and associated work processes.

Responsibilities
