About The Position

The Front End/Courtesy Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and helps maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. It involves greeting and assisting customers, processing transactions accurately and efficiently, following checkout and safety procedures, and supporting customers throughout the store.

Requirements

Customer service experience.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Effective communication skills.
Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.

Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.

Responsibilities

Greet, engage, and assist customers.
Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane.
Use the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle cash, checks, credit and debit cards, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
Follow company limits on cash shortages and overages and work honestly and effectively to control loss.
Follow guidelines for restricted-sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs.
Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons, where applicable.
Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notify store management.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Help customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products in the department and throughout the store.
Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict reasonably, nonconfrontationally, and cooperatively.
Act honestly and with integrity when handling customer and business information.
Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
