About The Position

The Front End/Cashier assists customers and processes sales while demonstrating the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The position performs cashier and store accounting functions and may provide services at the Customer Service Desk, including processing refunds, exchanges, payments, and other transactions. The role requires cooperative service in a fast-paced environment and the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
Six months of cashier experience to work at the Customer Service Desk.
Minimum age of 18; 19 in Idaho; 19 in Alaska if selling tobacco.
Ability to pass a drug test.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work weekends regularly, work any shift, and work overtime as needed.
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and projects.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Related retail experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver excellent customer service and encourage other associates to do the same.
Perform cashier functions, including opening and closing the register, ringing sales, completing tender transactions, bagging merchandise, making money drops, and using produce codes.
Complete the file maintenance log for price discrepancies.
Maintain the cleanliness of the checkstand area according to housekeeping standards.
Answer telephones.
Comply with corporate policies and promote and follow company initiatives.
Verify that Electronic Article Surveillance tags are deactivated or removed at the point of sale.
Respond to Electronic Article Surveillance pedestal activations and verify tag removal as necessary.
Maintain store accounting functions.
Prepare bank deposits of excess funds, including cash and checks.
Open and close the Customer Service Desk.
Process refunds, exchanges, money orders and transfers, bill payments, gift cards, purchase orders, and equipment rentals.
Provide lottery service, except in Alaska, and issue fish and game licenses.
Send and receive faxes.
Administer lost and found.
Run vendor reports.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
Act honestly and with integrity when handling customer and business information.
Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
