Requirements

  • Physical attendance based on a schedule made by management which may vary week to week based on the needs of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Provide extraordinary shopping experiences and exceptional service at checkout.
  • Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor.
  • Operate cash register or electronic scanner and look up products.
  • Ensure proper pricing by scanning the correct barcode.
  • Properly use and maintain computers, registers, and scanner equipment.
  • Suggestively sell items to guests at the register and offer add-on items, including the charity of the month.
  • Monitor merchandise brought to the register to ensure accurate charges.
  • Redeem coupons and weigh produce items when required.
  • Politely ask guests to read and answer pin pad questions.
  • Check acceptable identification when necessary to ensure legal sales.
  • Receive cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards.
  • Issue receipts and any change due.
  • Accurately count change back to the guest.
  • Bag or box merchandise, using bags and boxes appropriately.
  • Assist with carry-outs when needed and feasible.
  • Compute and record totals of all transactions on daily record sheet.
  • Call for a cash drop as soon as the limit has been reached to maintain proper till balance.
  • Keep work area clean and neat.
  • Count down drawer at end of shift and prepare final drop.
  • Answer questions and provide information to guests.
  • Resolve guest complaints with courtesy and respect.
  • Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
  • Avoid use of personal cell phone while on the sales floor.
  • Stock shelves and check price tags as needed.
  • Monitor checkout station, ensuring needed tools are in stock.
  • Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process.
  • Carry out directives of management efficiently.
  • Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
  • Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
  • Manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
  • Stand for most of shift, bend and walk occasionally.
