About The Position

The individuals who perform this job provide extraordinary shopping experiences to our guests and exceptional service at the time of checkout. This role involves operating the cash register, assisting guests, and maintaining the checkout area. The position requires adherence to company mission and values, maintaining a professional appearance, and providing friendly, helpful service.

Requirements

  • Must be over the age of 21.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos.
  • Ability to communicate with and understand coworkers and guests.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in both whole numbers and in fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate discounts and percentages.
  • Responsible, reliable, and committed to providing extraordinary service.
  • Patience, friendliness, and an outgoing personality.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Must maintain a valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit.
  • In some cases, a valid Food Handlers Permit is required.
  • Standing for most of shift, bending and walking occasionally.
  • Use arms, hands, and fingers to feel, handle, reach, and lift.
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds or more occasionally using proper lifting techniques and tools.
  • Push and/or pull 50-100 pounds or more occasionally.
  • Communicate with and understand team members and guests.
  • See product and payment methods.
  • Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.
  • Must be available to work any shift on Friday or Saturday.
  • Must be available 80% or more of all shifts each week.

Responsibilities

  • Provide extraordinary shopping experiences and exceptional service at checkout.
  • Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor.
  • Operate cash register or electronic scanner and look up products.
  • Ensure proper pricing by scanning the correct barcode.
  • Properly use and maintain computers, registers, and scanner equipment.
  • Suggestively sell items to guests at the register and offer add-on items.
  • Monitor merchandise brought to the register.
  • Redeem coupons and weigh produce items when required.
  • Assist guests with pin pad questions and check identification when necessary.
  • Receive cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards.
  • Issue receipts and any change due, accurately counting change back to the guest.
  • Bag or box merchandise, using bags and boxes appropriately.
  • Assist with carry-outs when needed and feasible.
  • Compute and record totals of all transactions on daily record sheet.
  • Call for cash drops when the limit is reached to maintain till balance.
  • Keep work area clean and neat.
  • Count down drawer at end of shift and prepare final drop.
  • Answer questions and provide information to guests.
  • Resolve guest complaints with courtesy and respect.
  • Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
  • Avoid use of personal cell phone while on the sales floor.
  • Stock shelves and check price tags as needed.
  • Monitor checkout station for necessary supplies like register paper and bags.
  • Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process.
  • Carry out directives of management efficiently.
  • Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
  • Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
  • Manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate with and understand team members and guests.
  • See product and payment methods.
  • Work in accordance with all safety regulations.
  • Perform other projects and tasks assigned by management, including cleaning restrooms.
