About The Position

The Patient Services Representative (Front Desk) is responsible for scheduling and monitoring assigned physicians’ schedules to ensure they are fully booked while adhering to the AO’s 20-minute wait time policy. This role requires a high volume of work with a need for high quality performance. The employee will handle confidential patient files daily and must maintain the highest degree of privacy, discretion, and professionalism. The position requires availability of forty hours per week with schedule flexibility to provide efficient service, not exceeding five days per week. A working knowledge of computers and the ability to learn office programs are necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalence required.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute
  • Proficient in operating a computer, scanner, and other office equipment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and other healthcare-related software applications.
  • Strong telephone etiquette and customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and team coordination abilities.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Demonstrated experience assisting providers with patient care, procedures, and clinical documentation.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must submit to and obtain a negative result in the pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Check in patients.
  • Reschedule patients if necessary.
  • Verify patients insurance by scanning proper documentation.
  • Explain to patients our forms.
  • Answer calls.
  • Monitor waiting time.
  • Call patients that requires hand carrying X-rays.
  • Collect co-pays.
  • Keep track of waiting time.
  • Direct patients to proper location such as imaging center, hand center, PT and other offices when necessary.
  • Route documents faxed to us and from us.
  • Aid patients with special needs such as wheelchairs and other.
  • Basic clerical activities.
  • Comply with all HIPPA laws and regulations.
