About The Position

The Front Desk Receptionist plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of Apex Spine and Neurosurgery. This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, performing administrative and clerical duties, and assisting physicians, managers, and staff. Responsibilities include answering phones, scheduling appointments, patient check-in/check-out, insurance verification, data entry, and maintaining an organized, efficient, and welcoming front office environment.

Requirements

  • Proficient in using phone systems and other office equipment
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to interpret and understand insurance benefits and reimbursement.
  • Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual candidates are a plus.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of medical office experience or two (2) years of secretarial office experience.
  • Experience with EMR system Athena is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, initiate records, and provide courteous assistance to patients and callers.
  • Answer and route phone calls; take accurate messages for providers and staff.
  • Check patients in/out and ensure registration forms, documentation, and patient portal information are complete.
  • Schedule appointments and procedures following practice guidelines.
  • Perform basic insurance verification and collect patient payments; reconcile daily balances.
  • Prepare daily schedules and assist patients with questions about account balances.
  • Handle medical record requests with proper authorization; maintain accurate and confidential records.
  • Maintain front office organization, including supplies and waiting room cleanliness.
  • Support physicians and staff with general administrative tasks and perform other duties as assigned.
