About The Position

This is a part-time job opening for a Front Desk/Guest Services Representative with multiple facilities and various shifts available. The role requires a friendly and outgoing personality, enjoyment of interacting with people, and the ability to perform a variety of clerical/administrative tasks. The position offers an opportunity to serve the community by assisting those seeking fun, education, and interaction through park district programs and events. It's a chance to meet new people, learn new skills, and have fun while being part of a TEAM. Hours include primarily morning, evening, and weekend shifts. The job is located at either the Main Street (MSRC) or Spring Avenue (SARC) Recreation Centers, or both. Day shifts are generally 8:30 am - 1:30 pm; Evening shifts are Monday – Thursday 3:30 pm – 8:00 pm or 1:00 pm-7:00 pm, and Friday 1:00 pm-5:00 pm; Rotating Saturdays from 9:00 am - Noon. The Glen Ellyn Park District is a local governmental agency serving residents of the Village of Glen Ellyn and portions of neighboring communities, providing a wide range of recreational services, athletics, and leisure activities to its citizens, with opportunities for all ages and abilities. Requirements

  • Previous customer service and/or office experience required.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with staff and the public both verbally and in writing.
  • Solid computer and keyboard skills required with the aptitude to learn a multi-layered recreation software application.
  • Strong general math skills with cash handling experience highly desired.
  • Accuracy and the ability to follow through on detailed work is essential.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to shift between tasks.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with the capacity to act calmly and effectively under pressure or in difficult situations.
  • Must be a self-starter who is dependable, flexible, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Capacity to project a professional appearance and maintain confidential information.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certified, or able to obtain when provided by the GEPD.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.

Nice To Haves

  • High School graduate or equivalent is preferred.
  • Some college or similar training and experience helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Providing quality customer service to anyone who enters the building or calls the office seeking information or assistance.
  • Frequent interaction with the public and park district staff to promote programs and services.
  • Perform program registration transactions.
  • Reserve rooms.
  • Prepare and process mail.
  • Assist with clerical support for management staff.
  • Informing program participants of class cancellations or changes.
  • Handling and balancing cash and other POS transactions.
  • Typing.
  • Data entry.
  • Filing.
  • Maintaining confidential information.
  • Assisting with special events.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
