About The Position

Bay Area Retina Associates is looking for a Front Desk Coordinator to join their team. The Front Desk Coordinator will be responsible for checking patients in and out, updating demographic and insurance information, collecting signatures, making follow-up appointments, answering telephones, scheduling appointments via computer, maintaining schedules, relaying phone messages to doctors, checking eligibility, obtaining authorizations, processing referrals, managing drug inventory, handling cash and reconciling at the end of the day, collecting copays and balances, performing recalls, sorting mail and faxes, and assisting with rooming, rinsing, and numbing patients as needed. Other duties may be assigned by the Clinical Operations Manager or a physician. The role requires maintaining patient satisfaction by providing professional, friendly service.

  • One year of past medical clinic or front desk experience preferred.
  • Minimum high school diploma.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of scheduled shift or more, be able to frequently move about the office to direct patients, access office supplies, and equipment, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to communicate with patients to convey necessary medical and financial information and document accurately in EMR and practice management system.
  • Regular travel to up to 3 assigned clinic locations, Fremont, Castro Valley, and San Leandro.
  • Periodic travel to other clinic locations as needed.
  • Position requires the use of telephone and office equipment such as computers, copier, fax, and scanner.
  • Position requires the use of medical equipment such as pharmaceutical refrigerators.
  • OSHA Classification Category II. Job duties include no exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks.

Responsibilities
