About The Position

Farmington Country Club is a premier, full-service private club in Central Virginia. Farmington is a member-owned club founded in 1927, and recognized as a Platinum Club of America. Portions of the clubhouse date to 1780 and were designed by Thomas Jefferson. The grounds of Farmington Country Club cover 275 landscaped acres and include the clubhouse, guest rooms, athletic facilities, tennis courts and golf course. The club has two restaurants, an upscale dining room (195 seats) a grill restaurant (215 seats) and a fast-casual poolside grill; each has its own kitchen. In addition, there are private dining rooms seating 100, 50, 40 and 12, a ballroom seating 250 and two seasonal snack bars. Sports facilities include 28 holes of golf, 15 outdoor and three indoor tennis courts, three paddle tennis courts, a swimming complex with diving and lap pools and a zero-depth recreation area, and a professionally staffed fitness center. Club facilities include 39 overnight guest rooms. Job Summary: Responsible for completing the Front Desk Clerk checklist while handling reservations, concierge duties, and answering the switchboard. This is a fast-paced position requires the ability to multi-task, communicate professionally and courteously, and respond appropriately under pressure.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Demonstrated professional communication and organizational skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to remain courteous and friendly when speaking with others
  • Ability to maintain a neat, professional appearance
  • Minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of Internet Explorer and other web browsers
  • Ability to learn Northstar software and Point-of-Sale (POS) billing
  • Flexibility in scheduling and availability to work at least one (1) of the three (3) shifts for this position, as listed below: 7:00a to 3:00p 10:00a to 6:00p 3:00p to 11:00p

Responsibilities

  • Greet members and guests pleasantly and enthusiastically, using their name when possible
  • Answer all incoming calls, in-person inquires, and general questions about Club events, facilities, and hours of operation
  • Follow all procedures to complete room and guest card reservations, and manage waiting list entries
  • Check members and guests in and out of guest rooms
  • Ensure the proper billing of members and guests for room rentals, snack bar purchases, and applicable fees
  • Complete Front Desk Clerk checklist daily
  • Graciously handle and follow up on all concierge requests
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with coworkers, other departments, members, guests, and the Manager on Duty (MOD)
  • Handle and balance cash and credit card sales
  • Stock and maintain Front Office snack bar and amenity inventories
  • Assist with coat checks when necessary
  • Maintain a clean and organized Front Office area
  • Understand and adhere to all safety and emergency response procedures
  • Attend regular meetings with Front Office management as required
  • Complete special projects as assigned
