About The Position

The Mass General Brigham Medical Group is seeking a full-time Front Desk Assistant for its Urgent Care center. This role is crucial for delivering high-quality, low-cost, innovative community-based ambulatory care. The Medical Group provides a wide range of services, including primary care, specialty care, behavioral and mental health, and urgent care, both digitally and at physical locations. The Urgent Care center treats adults and children for various illnesses and injuries, emphasizing compassion and emotional support for patients. The Front Desk Assistant will perform administrative functions to support smooth and efficient operations, handling patient interactions, clerical tasks, and billing-related duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Administrative Assistant or Secretarial Experience 2-3 years required
  • Must be able to commute to any of our locations for on-call shifts, including Boston Common, Brookline, Lynn, Natick, Newton, Westwood, and Woburn.
  • Ability to report to any of these centers during orientation, or during times of staffing shortages or other extenuating circumstances.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma in a Related Field of Study preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine administrative and clerical duties relating to a clinical service or physician practice office.
  • Greet and assist patients.
  • Answer telephones and assist callers with routine inquiries.
  • File materials in patient folders, and print appointment schedules.
  • Process patient billing forms and scan documents to patient medical record/LMR.
  • Call for patient medical records and laboratory test results.
  • Open and distribute mail or faxes.
  • Type forms, records, schedules, memos, etc., as directed.
  • May be required to accept co-payments.
  • Handles, screens and/or takes messages related to prior authorizations, referrals, and verify registrations for accuracy.
  • May monitor patients in waiting room and responds to any needs for information.
  • Assists in patient flow processes.
