About The Position

AFC Urgent Care - Portland is hiring a Medical Front Desk Receptionist to welcome patients and help create a smooth, supportive clinic experience. The role involves patient check-in and checkout, insurance verification, handling communications, cash drawer duties, and maintaining a clean, safe reception area. The position is full-time, 36–40 hours per week, with set shifts on the Back Half Team schedule and one on-call shift per month. The job is based at AFC Urgent Care’s Bethany Clinic in Portland, Oregon.

Requirements

At least 1 year of people-facing customer service experience.
Solid computer skills and comfort learning new systems.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced setting.
Friendly, driven, detail-oriented, and willing to take on multiple responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of experience with medical administrative duties.
Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

Welcome patients with a warm, friendly attitude.
Guide patients through check-in, ensuring forms are completed and entered accurately into the EMR system.
Verify insurance details and explain coverage and payments due at the time of service.
Complete checkout, organize and scan medical records, and provide patients with necessary documentation.
Answer incoming phone calls, respond to questions, and route calls to the appropriate team member.
Monitor emails and faxes and handle requests promptly and accurately.
Set up and close out the cash drawer.
Keep the front desk and lobby clean and welcoming, including disinfecting between patients.
Support the clinic team and perform other tasks as assigned by the Clinic Manager.
