About The Position

The Front Desk Agent is responsible for registering and assigning rooms to guests, issuing room keys, and providing escort instructions. They will sort and track incoming mail and messages, and transmit and receive messages using various communication methods. This role involves answering inquiries about hotel services, guest registration, and providing information on local attractions and directions. The agent will maintain records of room availability and rates, compute bills, collect payments, and make change. They will also make, confirm, and cancel reservations, post charges if the interface is inoperable, and make reservations for transportation or entertainment. Additionally, the agent will handle guest valuables by depositing them in the hotel safe deposit box. The position requires the ability to accurately use various office software and a full working knowledge of each shift, including night audit.

Requirements

  • Must have hotel experience.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of all hotel departments and functions.
  • Must have good mathematical and computer skills.
  • High school education required.
  • Adjusts to high-pressure conditions and is open to change.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal growth and development.
  • Conducts him/herself (acts and dresses) professionally at all times; sets standards for all associates.

Responsibilities

  • Register and assign rooms to guests.
  • Issue room key and escort instructions to Guest Service Agent or directly to guest.
  • Sort, and track incoming mail and messages.
  • Transmit and receive messages using all communication avenues.
  • Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel services, registration of guests, and shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.
  • Keep record of room availability and rate.
  • Compute bill, collect payment, and make change for guests.
  • Make, confirm, and cancel reservations via all communication avenues.
  • Post charges such as room, food, liquor, or telephone to guest bill if interface is inoperable.
  • Make reservation, transportation, or entertainment reservations for guest.
  • Deposit guest valuables in hotel safe deposit box.
  • Accurately use various office software.
  • Have a full working knowledge and expertise of each shift including night audit.
