About The Position

The Front Desk Agent is responsible for greeting and communicating cordially with guests, promptly and professionally checking them in and out of the hotel. This role also involves assisting in pre-registration and blocking of reservations when necessary, accurately managing cash handling, and having a complete working knowledge of the Front Office computer or manual system. The agent must be knowledgeable about hotel rates, discounts, reservations, and cancellation procedures.

Requirements

  • High work ethic and self-initiative
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer (6-8 hours a day).
  • Occasional standing and walking throughout the workday.
  • Frequent fine motor skills, use of hands and fingers for keyboarding/typing, utilizing a mouse or trackpad, writing, and operating office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to lift and/or move 10–25 pounds as needed (e.g., files, office supplies).
  • Visual ability to read from a computer screen and printed materials including close visual focus for extended periods and color differentiation (for certain roles).
  • Ability to hear and participate in conversations and meetings, use phone and/or headset.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and communicate cordially with guests, promptly and professionally checking them in and out of the hotel.
  • Assist in pre-registration and blocking of reservations when necessary.
  • Promptly, accurately and efficiently post all charges.
  • Manage cash handling, including receiving cash, checks and credit card information from guests for payment of hotel charges and making change correctly.
  • Review any reservations with special requests and work to block rooms accordingly.
  • Take same day reservations in approximately 2 minutes.
  • Follow cancellation procedures and relocation procedures when necessary.
