Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • High school graduate level mathematical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of standard cash handling procedures.
  • Knowledge of computerized cash register systems.
  • Past experience in dealing directly with the public.
  • General knowledge of basic customer service skills.
  • Fluent in oral and written English.
  • Ability to use tact and understanding when dealing with customer service problems, including stressful situations.
  • Highly organized and able to pay attention to minute written and verbal details.
  • Able to perform multiple tasks.
  • Able to read written communiques and monochrome computer screen.
  • Able to operate computer, calculator, and telephone keyboards.
  • Able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions.
  • Able to work on more than one task at a time.
  • Able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to reach all areas of the hotel to assist clients.
  • Occasional carrying and lifting of files and office items up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Respond professionally and courteously to guests, providing accurate information and services.
  • Handle telephone and in-person inquiries regarding reservations, hotel information, and guest concerns.
  • Complete check-in procedures for arriving guests using manual and computerized methods.
  • Facilitate guest departure (check-out) by closing guest accounts.
  • Calculate and post monies, receipts, and guest accounts accurately.
  • Answer inquiries and accept reservations, using suggestive selling techniques to increase revenue.
  • Maintain good customer relations by staying informed about hotel and local events.
  • Operate PBX equipment, assist with incoming and outgoing calls, schedule wake-up calls, and page guests.
  • Control cash transactions at the front desk and maintain responsibility for the hotel bank.
  • Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
