Freshwater Aquaculture Technician - Contract
About The Position
Kelly Cove Salmon Ltd., a division of Cooke Aquaculture Inc., is offering a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the Company’s team as a Freshwater Aquaculture Technician for our hatchery in South Oromocto, NB. This is a contract position with an end date of December 31, 2026. Cooke is a global seafood company with operations in North America, Europe, and South America. Requirements
- Attention to details
- Ability to lift and carry brood fish
- Computer literate
- Ability to answer alarms
- Willing to work varied or irregular shift including weekends
- Completed aquaculture training from a recognized educational institute or sufficient hands-on experience in spawning, egg incubation and early rearing of salmon fry
- Criminal background check is required

Responsibilities
- Monitoring feed and oxygen
- Completing water quality tests
- Data collection and input
- Daily farm routines
- Clean and maintain equipment
- Assist other aquaculture technicians in the operation of fish hatcheries
- Brood stock production and handling spawning, egg and fry production
- Feed aquaculture stocks, vaccinate stocks, and perform culling
- Operate, maintain, and clean pumps, filters, tanks and other aquaculture equipment
- Keep daily records of water chemistry and oxygen
- Grade and weigh aquaculture stocks
- Handles chemicals with necessary PPE. Includes mandatory FIT testing (respirators)
