About The Position

Alamos Gold Inc. is a Canadian-based gold producer committed to creating value through solid financial performance, low-cost production growth, and social responsibility and environmental stewardship. The Island Gold District is becoming one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada, located in northern Ontario. This role supports meeting the mines’ environmental targets and contributing to a positive environmental culture. The position involves conducting field-based environmental programs and data management, including inspections, emergency response, air quality monitoring equipment maintenance, water sampling, streamflow measurements, field surveys, and environmental database maintenance and reporting.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Environmental, Geology, Engineering or related fields.
  • Valid Canadian Driver’s License.
  • Superior computer skills, including data management and analysis.
  • Technical writing experience.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to working in a safe, environmentally and socially responsible manner.
  • Be comfortable working independently and in teams.
  • Undertake physical activities in the outdoors, at times in remote locations.
  • Operation of pickup trucks, ATVs, snowmobiles and boats is a requirement for this position.
  • Be team-focused, creative and flexible to perform other duties as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working at mines or remote sites is an asset.
  • Prior training and experience with boats, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and/or snowmobiles are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to site health and safety protocols, including actively participating in day-to-day safety meetings, assessment and procedures.
  • Employ knowledge of environmental procedures, techniques and regulations. Adhere to internal standard procedures.
  • Conduct inspections, collect field data and samples according to the monitoring schedule, adhering to internal standard procedures.
  • Perform downloads, calibration and maintenance of field and lab equipment.
  • Collect environmental samples, such as surface water, groundwater, and air, and record field measurements and notes.
  • Prepare samples for shipment to laboratory.
  • Assist in streamflow measurements and topographic surveys.
  • Assist with hazardous waste management.
  • Assist with environmental incident investigation and response.
  • Conduct data management and analysis, record keeping and reporting.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of health and safety protocols and internal procedures.
