About The Position

Freshmen Boys Basketball Coach Bedford North Lawrence High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Freshmen Boys Basketball Coach for the upcoming season. This seasonal position offers an opportunity to mentor young athletes, develop their skills, and foster a love for the game of basketball. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth among student-athletes.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.
• Must pass a background check and fulfill any other requirements set forth by the school and athletic department.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.
• High school diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

• Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or middle school level, is preferred but not required.
• Higher education in sports management, physical education, or a related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct daily basketball practices, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies.
• Develop and implement game plans for competitions, ensuring players understand their roles and responsibilities.
• Foster a positive and encouraging environment that promotes sportsmanship and respect among players.
• Monitor and assess players' progress, providing constructive feedback to help them improve their skills.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and player development.
• Organize and oversee team activities, including games, tournaments, and community service events.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all players during practices and games.
• Collaborate with other coaching staff to align team goals and strategies with the overall athletic program.
• Uphold and enforce school policies and regulations, as well as the rules of the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA).
