About The Position

The PVMHS Freshman Head Volleyball Coach for Fall 2026 will be responsible for all aspects of coaching and athletic discipline for the freshman volleyball team. This role requires modeling behaviors outlined in the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics, particularly concerning sportsmanship. The coach will implement Peabody Athletic Department policies and team rules, staying informed about MIAA and Peabody Athletic Handbook regulations, including rule changes and trends in the sport. The coach must be present at all practices and contests, developing and executing organized written practice plans with proper warm-up and cool-down procedures. Professional and healthy behaviors, including leading by example in appearance, manners, language, and conduct, are essential. Ensuring the safety of facilities and equipment, and teaching safety procedures, is a key responsibility. The coach will also implement game plans, manage games, process necessary medical and consent forms, and work with community members involved in youth sports. Direct supervision of squad members at home and away contests, and of all team members transported by school buses, is required. All duties assigned by the Director of Athletics must be performed.

Requirements

High School Level Volleyball and/or High School Level coaching experience required
First Aid/CPR required
MIAA/NFHS Coaches Certification required

Responsibilities

Model behaviors outlined in the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics, especially those pertaining to sportsmanship.
Have full control of the team in all matters pertaining to coaching and athletic discipline.
Implement Peabody Athletic Department policies and team rules.
Be responsible for information contained in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Handbook and the Peabody Athletic Handbook.
Stay informed of rule changes, trends, and recommendations that affect their particular sport.
Be present at each practice session and at all contests of the sport coached.
Develop an organized written practice plan to include adequate warm-up and cool-down procedures on a daily basis.
Model professional and healthy behaviors.
Lead by example in appearance, manners, language and conduct during practices/games.
Make sure that the facilities and equipment are safe and that safety procedures are taught and followed in all areas.
Perform all duties/responsibilities assigned by the Director of Athletic.
Implement game plans and game management.
Process the medical forms, parent consent forms and eligibility reports.
Work with community members who are involved in youth sports.
Directly supervise squad members at home and away contests.
Supervise all team members that are transported by school buses.
