About The Position

Lake Central High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our athletic department as a Freshman Assistant Basketball Coach for the upcoming season. This seasonal position is focused on developing young female athletes in the sport of basketball while fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of basketball fundamentals and a commitment to enhancing the overall high school experience for our student-athletes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, coaches, and parents.
• Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team environment.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.
• A background check will be required prior to employment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous coaching or playing experience in basketball is preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices, drills, and game strategies for the freshman girls' basketball team.
• Provide instruction and support to players in skill development, teamwork, and game tactics.
• Monitor and assess player performance, offering constructive feedback to help athletes improve.
• Promote a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and hard work.
• Collaborate with other coaching staff and school personnel to ensure the well-being and academic success of student-athletes.
• Attend all team practices, games, and meetings as required.
• Assist in organizing team events, including fundraisers, community service, and team-building activities.
• Ensure compliance with all school and athletic department policies, as well as state and national regulations.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team progress and player development.
