About The Position

Quest Forward Santa Rosa is seeking a Part-Time French Teacher to develop and deliver French courses for middle and high school students. This role focuses on building a strong foundation in the French language and fostering an appreciation for francophone cultures. The teacher will be responsible for curriculum design, instruction delivery, student engagement, and family/community communication. This is an opportunity to contribute to a growing world language program in an immersive educational environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of teaching experience, preferably in middle school or high school.
  • Strong track record of student achievement.
  • Experience designing and implementing differentiated instruction to meet the needs of students of varying levels.
  • Proven academic growth for students below grade level with interventions.
  • Experience integrating technology into humanities instruction, particularly to enhance student engagement.
  • Deep belief in all students’ potential and a commitment to holding high academic and behavioral expectations.
  • A growth mindset, constantly seeking to refine and improve instructional practice.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Passion for middle school education and making humanities relevant and engaging for students.
  • Readiness to go above and beyond, including putting in extra time in and outside of your role, to build Quest Forward’s college prep school.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement curriculum for French courses at the high school level, aligned to proficiency-based standards.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans that build students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while fostering cultural curiosity.
  • Assess student work, provide timely feedback, and maintain high expectations for language proficiency and growth.
  • Establish a welcoming, organized, and immersive classroom environment that encourages students to take risks in using the language.
  • Help design and expand a world language program that evolves as the school grows.
  • Create opportunities for students to use French authentically, such as cultural events, student showcases, and pen pal or virtual exchange programs.
  • Assist in establishing partnerships with local francophone organizations, cultural institutions, or community members.
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress, celebrating successes and addressing challenges proactively.
  • Participate in school events, family conferences, and outreach efforts to build strong relationships with families and the community.
  • Help students and families see the relevance of learning French in their everyday lives, future careers, and an increasingly global society.
