About The Position

Audubon Charter School is seeking a French Academic Director to provide instructional and program leadership for its French-language program. The Director will support teachers and teaching assistants, monitor instructional quality and student progress, collaborate with families and school leadership, and help ensure alignment with AEFE, CODOFIL, Louisiana Department of Education, and World Language requirements. The ideal candidate is an experienced French educator and instructional leader who is collaborative, organized, reflective, and committed to high expectations for students and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least five years of teaching experience at the grade levels served.
  • Appropriate French teaching certification.
  • Certification, or eligibility for certification, as a Teacher Leader or School Administrator.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in French and English.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the French National Education Program.
  • Ability to work effectively in a public or charter-school setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in education or a related field.
  • At least seven years of teaching or instructional leadership experience in a French-school setting.
  • Experience with teacher supervision, evaluation, curriculum leadership, or program administration.
  • Experience with AEFE, CODOFIL, LDOE, or World Language requirements.
  • Strong French-language proficiency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective instructional leadership and teacher-coaching skills.
  • Strong organization and follow-through.
  • Sound judgment when addressing academic, behavioral, and disciplinary concerns.
  • A commitment to student achievement, inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with AEFE and CODOFIL requirements, standards, and processes, including relevant expectations for French educational programs and school operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional and administrative leadership for the French program.
  • Support teachers in developing standards-aligned lesson plans, units, assessments, and instructional materials.
  • Observe teachers and teaching assistants and provide constructive, actionable feedback.
  • Support staff with classroom management, student discipline, curriculum, and instructional practices.
  • Review report cards and progress reports for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with French-program expectations, and provide feedback before distribution.
  • Monitor student achievement and maintain accurate student-progress and program records.
  • Conduct and participate in teacher-parent conferences concerning academic progress, student behavior, and disciplinary concerns within the French program.
  • Facilitate professional learning, collaboration, and weekly professional learning communities.
  • Collaborate with school leadership and student-support personnel to address student needs.
  • Maintain regular communication with families and the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
  • Participate in school events, family activities, leadership meetings, and community-service initiatives.
  • Support class-roster and teacher-scheduling processes.
  • Maintain documentation related to AEFE, CODOFIL, LDOE, and World Language requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and leadership training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Principal’s designee.
