About The Position

Kennicott Brothers is launching a dedicated freight division to serve retail florists in the Atlanta market who receive fresh flower shipments from Miami. The Freight Services Manager will be the founding commercial hire of this new business unit — responsible for building and managing a book of retail florist accounts, coordinating freight operations at the Armellini cross-dock facility in Tucker, GA, and delivering the superior service experience that will set Kennicott apart in the market.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in account management, logistics coordination, or a customer-facing service role
  • Strong communicator across all channels — verbal, written, and text/messaging platforms
  • Service-oriented mindset with demonstrated ability to manage and resolve customer issues quickly
  • Self-starter comfortable building new processes without an established playbook
  • Organized and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple accounts and active shipments simultaneously
  • Proficient with standard business technology (email, mobile, shipment tracking platforms)
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and comfort level to operate in a start-up environment within a well-established company.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fresh produce, floral, perishable goods, or temperature-sensitive freight
  • Familiarity with freight brokerage, cross-dock operations, or last-mile distribution
  • Background in B2B account management or wholesale distribution
  • Established relationships within the Atlanta retail floral community a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of retail florist accounts in the Atlanta metro area
  • Prospect and convert new accounts from an identified target list of approximately 100 customers
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all freight customers from initial onboarding through ongoing service
  • Recapture accounts lost to competitors by demonstrating superior reliability, communication, and service
  • Identify opportunities to transition freight customers into Kennicott's broader wholesale and direct purchase programs
  • Coordinate incoming freight from Miami through the Armellini cross-dock facility in Tucker, GA
  • Perform and/or oversee cross-dock receiving, scanning, and staging of customer freight upon truck arrival
  • Utilize Armellini’s truck tracking technology to monitor shipment status and provide proactive customer updates
  • Ensure customers experience a smooth, efficient, and welcoming pickup process at the Tucker facility
  • Maintain accurate records of inbound freight counts and escalate discrepancies immediately
  • Provide immediate, proactive communication via phone, text, and messaging platforms
  • Notify customers upon truck arrival and confirm freight counts and pickup readiness
  • Resolve customer inquiries regarding shipment status, missing boxes, or delivery discrepancies with urgency
  • Support the buildout of automated customer notification systems as the division's technology infrastructure develops
  • Track account activity, shipment volumes, and revenue within the division's standalone P&L structure
  • Report regularly to division leadership on account status, pipeline development, and service performance
  • Contribute to the development of operational processes, tools, and systems as the division scales
  • Collaborate with Finance to ensure accurate setup and transaction coding in NetSuite
  • Process all accounts payable and freight billing for the division, including invoice receipt, expense coding, and submission for payment
