About The Position

As a Freight Rail Intern in HDR’s Transportation Business Group, you will gain real-world experience on freight rail projects by applying standard engineering techniques and procedures to the design of track, structures, and supporting facilities for freight railroad clients. You will work under the guidance and direct supervision of a senior-level Engineer, assisting with drawings and calculations, material lists and quantity calculations, construction submittals, and specialized software. The position may require travel and/or field work within the United States.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Commitment to being an active participant in HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Nice To Haves

• Preferably have completed at least two years toward a degree and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to the field of study or industry, such as MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Interest in the freight railroad industry and/or transit.
• Preference given to local candidates.

Responsibilities
