About The Position

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Freight Quoter – Domestic & International to join our growing logistics team. This position will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive freight quotes for both domestic and international shipments, creating basic trucking shipments, coordinating with carriers and transportation providers, and supporting customers throughout the quoting and booking process. The ideal candidate has experience in freight forwarding, transportation, logistics, or freight brokerage and understands the requirements involved in moving freight domestically and internationally.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in freight, logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, brokerage, dispatch, or a related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of domestic and international transportation.
  • Understanding of freight rates, lanes, equipment types, transit times, and transportation terminology.
  • Familiarity with FTL, LTL, air, ocean, intermodal, and expedited freight is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of international shipping processes and documentation is preferred.
  • Experience creating or managing shipments in a TMS or transportation software.
  • Strong attention to detail and data-entry accuracy.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple quote and shipment requests simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer shipment requests and determine the appropriate domestic or international transportation solution.
  • Prepare accurate, competitive freight quotes for domestic and international shipments.
  • Quote FTL, LTL, expedited, intermodal, air freight, ocean freight, and other transportation services as applicable.
  • Obtain and compare rates, transit times, equipment availability, and service options from carriers, freight forwarders, and transportation providers.
  • Calculate freight costs, fuel surcharges, accessorial charges, customs-related costs, duties/taxes when applicable, and other applicable fees.
  • Communicate pricing, transit times, routing, and service options clearly to customers and sales representatives.
  • Follow up on quotes and assist with converting opportunities into booked shipments.
  • Create basic domestic trucking shipments in the company's TMS, including shipper, consignee, pickup and delivery information, equipment type, commodity, weight, dimensions, and other required shipment details.
  • Enter and maintain accurate shipment information in the TMS and ensure required fields and documentation are completed.
  • Create basic shipment records, rate confirmations, pickup information, and other transportation documentation as required.
  • Coordinate with operations and dispatch to ensure quoted shipments are properly set up and ready for execution.
  • Support the setup and coordination of international shipments, including gathering required shipment information and documentation.
  • Work with carriers, steamship lines, airlines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other logistics providers as needed.
  • Verify shipment details, rates, and accessorial charges before releasing shipments to operations or dispatch.
  • Monitor freight rates, capacity, transit times, and market conditions for domestic and international transportation.
  • Maintain accurate customer, carrier, pricing, and shipment information in the TMS/CRM.
  • Resolve pricing discrepancies and respond to customer questions regarding quotes and transportation options.
  • Coordinate with sales, operations, customer service, and accounting to ensure accurate and profitable shipments.
  • Maintain profitability while providing competitive and service-focused transportation solutions.
  • Meet established response-time, accuracy, and performance goals.
