Freight Payment Operations Analyst
About The Position
Packer Freight is seeking a Freight Payment Operations Analyst to support accurate carrier invoice processing and payments while using AI agents to handle routine tasks. The analyst will review paperwork and agent-flagged issues, resolve discrepancies, and determine how agents should respond to exceptions they cannot handle. The role also involves analyzing recurring exceptions and improving rules, tolerances, and instructions so the process becomes more effective over time. The position emphasizes accurate, timely carrier payments and strong relationships with carriers, shippers, coworkers, and leadership. AI expertise is not required; the company is looking for someone curious about AI tools, attentive to detail, comfortable making judgment calls, and motivated to improve operations. The role offers an opportunity to learn the freight industry and grow with the company.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role is strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify errors and investigate why they occurred.
- Curiosity about AI tools and experience experimenting with them, even informally.
- Ability to make judgment calls on complex or unclear problems without step-by-step instructions.
- Clear written and phone communication skills with carriers, coworkers, and leadership.
- Comfort using Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to learn new software quickly.
Responsibilities
- Review carrier invoices and payment details for accuracy.
- Resolve invoice and payment discrepancies, including issues flagged by AI agents.
- Determine how agents should handle exceptions they cannot resolve.
- Analyze exceptions to identify whether they are isolated or indicate a process change is needed.
- Refine processing rules, tolerances, and instructions to improve agent performance and operations.
- Help ensure carriers are paid accurately and on time.
- Communicate with carriers, coworkers, and leadership.
