The Freight Operations Supervisor will lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations, developing and implementing strategic work procedures to meet evolving demands. This role involves evaluating, managing, and assigning workloads, supervising hourly staff, and acting as the primary point of contact for workplace concerns. The supervisor will ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll, and other administrative functions, and will plan hourly employee schedules to meet daily operations goals and lower costs. A key part of the role is enforcing all company, FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC, and DOT policies, rules, regulations, and laws, and implementing applicable workplace policies and procedures to optimize network performance. The supervisor will also ensure customer freight is processed, handled, loaded, and delivered timely and damage-free. The role requires effectively directing a team to consistently meet or exceed productivity goals and making recommendations regarding hiring, suspension, and termination. Additionally, the supervisor will develop and present action plans to improve load average and model compliance, participate in internal safety and engagement committees, and train employees on safety rules and processes. Monitoring and maintaining organization within the shift for safety and productivity, conducting daily staff meetings, and communicating corporate messages are also responsibilities. The supervisor will inspect working conditions of tools and equipment, direct corrections for any adverse conditions, and provide instruction, analyses, suggestions, and ideas for operational improvements. Acting as a champion of XPO values and minimizing shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading, headloads, and sector loading while maintaining quality standards are also expected.
