The Freight Operations Supervisor will lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations. This role involves developing and implementing strategic work procedures, evaluating and assigning workloads, and supervising hourly staff. The supervisor will ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll, and other administrative functions, and will plan employee schedules to meet operational goals and reduce costs. They will enforce all company policies, rules, and regulations, and ensure customer freight is processed, handled, loaded, and delivered in a timely and damage-free manner. The role also includes coaching and developing employees, conducting evaluations, and making recommendations regarding hiring and terminations. Additionally, the supervisor will develop action plans to improve load averages and model compliance, participate in safety and engagement committees, and train employees on safety rules and processes. Monitoring and maintaining organization within the shift for safety and productivity, conducting daily staff meetings, and inspecting tools and equipment are also key responsibilities. The supervisor will act as a champion of XPO values and work to minimize shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading, headloads, and sector loading while maintaining quality standards.
