Freight Coordinators are responsible for routing incoming and outgoing communication regarding freight shipments and transportation needs for their companies. What do Mercer Transportation Freight Coordinators Do? Work with shipping and logistics companies to ensure their supply lines are intact and efficient. They help monitor freights as they deliver shipments to their destinations and report all problems encountered. The coordinator is also responsible for communicating with other transport providers to patch up gaps in the delivery schedule due to vehicle breakdowns and accidents. The Freight Coordinator is expected to be hands-on in this task and quickly respond to inquiries and resolve problems. Seek new customers and build strong relationships with them. Monitor customers’ websites and emails in a timely manner and respond appropriately. Work with Mercer team to move freight. Tabulate correct mileage and rate charges, ensure correct agents commission splits, and issue advances in accordance with established company guidelines. Provide rates on rate bid packages. Analyze problems as they arise and use independent judgment in conjunction with others to determine best solutions about customer satisfaction and Mercer profitability. Enter Loaded, Empty, Advance and Check Calls for trucks that call. Coordinate with Mercer and outside carriers to find suitable freight and enter in accurate driver locations into Mercer system. Follow internal processes to respond to customer needs. Suggests improvements or issues with processes to management. Answers all inquiries on a timely basis. Education Requirements: Minimum, High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred, Undergraduate degree with relevant courses and training in Sales Management. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Three (3) years of work experience in Customer Service/Sales/Supervisory roles preferred. Working knowledge of U.S geography. Strong interpersonal, oral communication and presentation skills including the ability to communicate with all levels of management and audiences with diverse backgrounds and educational levels. Strong written communication skills including the ability to write reports and conduct business correspondences. Excels in prioritizing daily functions and dealing with multiple deadlines and high volumes of work; respond promptly to customer needs. Strong analytic and research skills including the ability to solve practical problems; Ability to take independent actions and calculated risks. Seeks opportunities to improve processes and implements creative solutions. Displays original thinking and creativity. Presents ideas and information in a manner that persuades positive interaction. Ability to work with group developing sales campaigns and realistic action plans. Computer proficiency.
