About The Position

The Freight Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and scheduling freight movements, managing logistics within the Transportation Management System (TMS), and providing operational support to drivers, internal teams and management. This role requires a valid CDL to move and retrieve sleeper cabs and trailers between locations as needed. The Freight Coordinator serves as a key point of contact for freight scheduling and occasional driver inquiries outside of standard business hours.

Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Experience scheduling van and flatbed loads using a Transportation Management System (TMS)
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively with drivers and internal teams
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior experience in logistics, dispatch, or freight coordination
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and compliance
  • Experience working in transportation, manufacturing, or distribution environments

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule van and flatbed shipments through the company’s TMS
  • Plan and monitor freight movements to ensure on-time delivery and operational efficiency
  • Move and retrieve sleeper cabs and trailers to and from the shop as operational needs require
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, equipment movements, and logistics data
  • Provide occasional after-hours support to drivers (on-call availability approximately 24/5 as needed)
  • Communicate with drivers, carriers, and internal departments regarding load status and scheduling
  • Assist with troubleshooting freight or scheduling issues as they arise
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel for basic tracking, reporting, and data entry tasks
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations when operating commercial vehicles
