About The Position

Scheels is seeking a Full-Time Freight Associate to join their team. This role is crucial for managing incoming inventory, ensuring accuracy, and supporting the overall flow of goods within the store. The associate will be responsible for unloading trucks, organizing freight, examining shipments, and assisting with the distribution of items to backstock or the warehouse. This position requires a proactive approach to inventory management and a commitment to maintaining a well-organized stockroom. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, physically capable of handling heavy loads, and able to work collaboratively with other team members and departments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree
  • 1-3 months of warehouse or freight receiving experience
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Follow all safety procedures and perform job duties in a fashion that minimizes the risk of injury

Responsibilities

  • Unload and unpack shipping trucks
  • Organize and prioritize incoming freight to efficiently and accurately receive inventory
  • Examine shipments, reject damaged items, and record shortages/overages
  • Develop and execute claims on mis-ships and defective products
  • Work with specialty shop managers and merchandisers to distribute items to correct backstock or the warehouse
  • Assist merchandisers by attaching identification and price tags
  • Operate motorized or non-motorized pallet jack to move shipments between platforms, backstock, or the warehouse
  • Navigate a personal computer (Google Suite, AS400, etc.) and a phone (inventory, pricing, receiving, etc.)
  • Work assigned schedule, which is typically Monday through Friday daytime hours, but may include some evening or weekend hours as needed
