About The Position

The Freight Analyst is responsible for the freight payment function and supports transportation expenses by ensuring accurate and timely payment of freight and transportation invoices. The role covers inbound domestic, inbound, and outbound service modes. It provides customer service support for carrier inquiries and partners with Transportation Procurement to proactively resolve billing discrepancies and contractual disputes. The position processes and audits freight invoices, supports accounts payable, coordinates month-end accruals, monitors carrier aging, tracks transportation expenses, and assists with EDI transactions. It also participates in designing and implementing a new Transportation Management System for Freight Pay and Audit, including design, test script development, testing, and reporting. Projects include developing a lanes database with existing rates and creating a contractual agreement explaining invoice validation to carriers and partners.

Responsibilities

Ensure accurate and timely freight payment processing, including general ledger coding, auditing, and entering freight payment invoices.
Work with Accounts Payable to ensure payments are processed and act as a liaison between Accounts Payable and Freight Pay on payment issues.
Coordinate the month-end accrual process, including collecting information, creating accrual journal entries, validating supporting documentation, and performing related analysis.
Handle carrier aging and help ensure carriers proactively manage receivables without payment and Accounts Payable resolves outstanding payables in a timely manner.
Participate in designing and implementing the new Transportation Management System for Freight Pay and Audit, including design, test script development, testing, and report creation.
Track and analyze monthly freight and transportation expenses.
Assist with EDI transactions.
Develop a lanes database that includes existing rates.
Develop a contractual agreement explaining invoice validation to carriers and partners.
Support carrier inquiries and work with Transportation Procurement to resolve billing discrepancies and contractual disputes.
