About The Position

We are looking for a Freight Agent who is ready to roll their sleeves up and own every part of the freight cycle — from developing new shipper relationships and bringing on qualified carriers, to dispatching loads and seeing them through to final delivery. This is not a siloed role. You will touch all of it. The right person for this role has existing shipper relationships or the industry knowledge and drive to build them fast. They understand how to find and evaluate carriers, and they know what it takes to keep a load moving when things go sideways. They do not wait to be told what to do — they identify what needs to happen and they make it happen. You will work closely with the Director of Logistics and be a key part of shaping how this operation grows. If you are looking for a place where your effort directly translates into results — for the business and for your own earning potential — this is it.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of freight brokerage experience in a full-cycle, production-oriented role.
  • An existing book of business you can bring to Global Connect Logistics, OR a demonstrated history of building one quickly in a prior role — with specifics to back it up.
  • Proven ability to prospect, close, and retain shipper accounts independently.
  • Working knowledge of carrier vetting, FMCSA compliance, and freight insurance requirements.
  • Experience with load boards — DAT, Truckstop.com, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with a TMS platform — we use TMSEZ; experience with any comparable system is acceptable.
  • Strong negotiator on both the customer and carrier side — comfortable quoting, countering, and closing.
  • High urgency, high accountability — you treat your book like your own business.
  • Excellent communicator — written, verbal, and on the phone.

Nice To Haves

  • Active shipper relationships that can be transitioned to Global Connect Logistics immediately.
  • Multi-mode experience — dry van, reefer, flatbed, LTL, intermodal.
  • Familiarity with carrier fraud red flags and double-brokering prevention.
  • Experience with Carrier411, Highway, or Carrier Watch for carrier monitoring.
  • CRM experience for pipeline management.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage existing shipper relationships or actively develop new ones through outreach, networking, and industry knowledge.
  • Understand shipper needs, lanes, and freight requirements well enough to quote competitively and win the business.
  • Negotiate rates and service terms that work for the shipper and generate margin for Global Connect Logistics.
  • Build trust with accounts through consistent follow-through — your reputation is the foundation of your book.
  • Source and onboard carriers that match your lanes, freight types, and service requirements.
  • Vet every carrier through the proper compliance and insurance standards before they touch a load.
  • Develop preferred carrier relationships built on performance — on-time pickups, check-call compliance, and reliability.
  • Stay ahead of capacity needs so you are never scrambling to cover a load at the last minute.
  • Quote, book, dispatch, and track every shipment you manage through to final delivery confirmation.
  • Stay on top of your loads in real time — identify exceptions early and resolve them before they become customer problems.
  • Communicate proactively with both shippers and carriers — no one should have to chase you for an update.
  • Maintain accurate load records in our TMS and manage billing and carrier payables for your book.
  • Handle the unexpected — freight does not always go as planned and you are the one who figures it out.
