About The Position

The Freeze Lead performs frozen food department responsibilities while working with and reporting to the Grocery Manager. The role assists in directing department operations, supervising and training personnel, maintaining product quality and backroom standards, and supporting ordering, receiving, stocking, inventory control, merchandising, and display building. The position also contributes to grocery department operations, customer service, sales, and planning for regular, seasonal, and special merchandise needs. The work takes place in a temperature-controlled store, with exposure to cold cases, coolers, freezers, cleaning chemicals, varying temperatures in loading and receiving areas, and occasional outdoor conditions. This is a safety-sensitive position involving physical activity such as lifting, standing, walking, bending, and moving merchandise and equipment.

Ability to maintain composure when dealing with customers, vendors, and co-workers, including when handling interruptions and complaints.
Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels, customers, vendors, and the public.
Ability to frequently reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects weighing up to approximately 80 pounds from floor level to overhead.
Ability to push and pull fully loaded hand trucks, six-wheel carts, and pallet jacks.
Ability to stand, walk, and move rapidly for long periods, and frequently bend, stoop, twist, and turn.
Ability to climb ladders may be required.
Mental alertness to complete work safely and accurately, including repetitive work.
Knowledge of basic mathematics and ability to learn inventory control, pricing, merchandising, and shipping and receiving procedures.
Ability to judge and react to business activity.
Ability to use cleaning supplies and chemicals as needed.

Responsibilities

Assist the Grocery Manager in directing frozen food department operations, including supervising and training personnel.
Maintain the quality of frozen grocery products; stock, rotate, and face products; discard outdated or spoiled products; and clean and maintain shelves and the backroom.
Assist with ordering, receiving, storing, stocking, inventory control, and building displays.
Promote safe, friendly, and courteous customer service, and use suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
Assist the Grocery Manager with planning and organizing regular and seasonal merchandise requirements and special sales needs.
Order frozen merchandise.
Train, teach, and coach dairy stocking and conditioning standards.
Assist with dry grocery order writing, grocery stocking and conditioning, and work on new items.
Assist with the reclamation process.
Manage backroom inventory, conditions, and standards.
Assist with grocery department merchandising and display building.
Comply with Company policies, including attendance, grooming standards, and dress codes.
